Maria wins Wounded Heroes Australia Car Raffle

30 Nov 1999

Maria is the proud new owner of an MG HS Plus EV after winning the recent Wounded Heroes Australia Car Raffle.

A support worker by trade, Maria has also won a year's supply of fuel. She said she couldn’t believe it when she was told she had won the car.

"I've never owned a new car, and I'm excited for my client who will be able to ride around in style," Maria said.

"It's going to make a big difference. The boot is really high up and will help with lifting the wheelchair in and out of the car, which will benefit my clients."

Maria purchased the winning ticket during a visit to the Wounded Heroes Australia Veteran Centre in Bundamba, where she had taken her client for coffee and a toasted sandwich. She forgot about the ticket until she received a phone call on Mother's Day, followed by another call the next day from an unrecognized number. Eventually, after receiving a text from Wounded Heroes Australia confirming her win, she returned the call and learned she had won the car.

Maria extended her gratitude for the work that Wounded Heroes Australia does in the community.

"Wounded Heroes Australia does a great job in the community for veterans; it’s helping everybody, it’s helping me, and it’s helping them," Maria said.

Wounded Heroes Australia wishes to thank everyone who purchased a ticket in the raffle and Llewellyn MG for their support.
