Where does my money go?
Wounded Heroes Australia (WHA) is a national charity supporting current and former Australian Defence Force (ADF) members, veterans and their families experiencing financial crisis, homelessness or risk of homelessness, family and domestic violence (FDV), food insecurity and other circumstances requiring immediate practical assistance.
WHA operates a rapid-response model designed to intervene early, provide immediate practical assistance and prevent an acute situation from escalating.
In Townsville, WHA’s service is delivered through a combination of telephone-based crisis response, referrals from other organisations and direct walk-in presentations to the Townsville Veteran Centre.
WHA also works collaboratively with veteran organisations, Defence networks and the broader community-services sector. WHA does not seek to unnecessarily duplicate specialist or longer-term services. Where appropriate, WHA provides the immediate intervention and then connects the individual or family with organisations best placed to provide ongoing assistance.
