Wounded Heroes Australia was pleased to welcome Ian Charles Morely into the Veterans Centre in Bundamba during the week.
Ian was the Sergeant for ‘C’ Fun of the 105th Field Battery in the Royal Australian Artillery.
Formerly from Tasmania and now residing in Queensland, Ian served for 34 years.
He served in Vietnam, twice; from 1965 to 1966 and again from 1969 to 1970.
Ian was just 26 when he served in Vietnam for the first time where he served with the First Field Regiment where he was in the Battle of the Long Tan. The gun that he fired is now part of the National collect at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
Ian completed his second tour in South Vietnam with the 12th Field Regiment and again with the 1st Field Regiment.
He retired from the regular Army in 1981 and joined the Ipswich Battery where he was Battery Commander for six years.
Staff and volunteers were privileged to spend time with Ian and his lovely family (who coincidentally were involved in a production shoot for a TV advertisement promoting Jim’s Café).
Ian was joined by some of the volunteers around the Centre with he and his family taking part in discussions about being involved with the Tuesday Brew Crew and also the possibility of donating some imagery to the Centre.
Wounded Heroes Australia wish to thank Ian for everything he has done for our country and surrounding communities; and express a deep gratitude for he and his family to enjoy a morning at the Wounded Heroes Veteran Centre in Bundamba.
